Okay so ive been wanting a mustang for so long now. I cant seem to find any good ones locally, but on Ebay.. I see a great amount of them that are fairly cheaper than the ones where I live at. If I were to buy one, from a trusted dealer on ebay, would that be bad? They describe the cars good and have like dozens of pics of it and tell you if its been damaged or has any dings, dents or scratches. Plus you can check the carfax report.

  1. I had a friend, whose family were going to buy one off E-Bay, and they realized they were being cheated. I would go to a CarMax, and tell them that you want a Mustang. If they don't have one there, then they can ship one, to where you live. My brother just bought one, and they seemed pretty good.

  2. If you have not realized people will say and do anything on internet yet you have not been using too long.  E-bay only delivers about 30% of cars they sell mostly due to fraudulent description and some peolpe think they can wheel and deal when they buy at e-bay price which legally they cannot.

  3. I offered my 69 Swinger 340 Resto-Racer on Ebay, and since they all seemed to have the same "inspection" I paid for the same service. The " Inspector " was more interested in getting to drive the car than any thing else. I described more flaws in the car than he noted. I ended up selling the car to someone 15 miles from me, I had owned it since college and he just wanted it, leaky front pump seal in the transmission and all.

I took the showed the car sold and took it off Ebay BEFORE I sold it those fees are deadly. And the answer above is right they are going to side with the seller in most cases from my small experience with the auto side of Ebay.

  4. It is a risk that you have to make... believe me it is not a risk I am willing to make.

  5. Buying any car without personally looking at it and driving it is in my opinion a huge mistake! I used to sell cars and the dealers would put cars on the lot that I wouldn't even think about selling to a friend never mind buying myself! Believe me they wouldn't recommend them to a friend either!

I'm not saying all dealers are that way but "seeing and driving" will always tell you if you want to own the car.

I have seen cars that were "totaled" or "stolen" on the lot and the dealers didn't  know it until a buyer ran a VIN check or the Registry ran a check when trying to get plates. Go to a large car auction "classic or other" and you will see the State Police running VIN checks on cars! Guess Why.

My advice is take your time and bring a pro with you when you when find a car (not sight unseen) other than EBay.

How are you planning to pay for the car? Be careful of Paypal. Ask around about purchasing on EBay! I bought thru them only to find out if the company goes out of business before they ship or deliver you money is gone and Paypal will not assume any liability.

I implore you not consider this!

  6. Be very careful when you buy, if you get it from a dealership the Lemon Law applies to used vehicle purchased at dealerships, if from a private person and likely a dealership you may loose, A lot of Lemon cars are getting sold in the area where there is no recourse if you have major problems, The new Mustang are having problem with engine vibrating caused buy an in-balance at the crankshaft (the ones I have look at anyway), the transmission delay to engage (automatic) the stick shifts gears grind, convertible tops need replacing often and the radios and body parts are not fitting well, these are just a few of what I have witnessed, be sure to have it checked by a mechanic you know and trust, and be sure there is a warranty and know as much about the seller and the past repair orders as possible. Not all Mustangs are bad there are a few good ones out there but buy with caution.  Good Luck and God Bless
