  1. Don't you think it might set him up for a lot of persecution by the religious types?  It's basically like naming your kid "Satan"....or "Devilboy" isn't it?

    Sounds cool though!

  2. No, it would be unique. People who say otherwise will probably want to name all their kids one of the fifty most common names.

I have been wanting to name a child Lucifer, I think it is an elloquent name.

  3. Yes

  4. go for it but Metatron is cooler kinda sounds like a transformer.

  5. nah.. I say go for it..

at least it doesn't rhyme with anything rude..

  6. My nephew took that name for his confirmation and we all thought it was way way cool.

  7. Yes, but that would be a great name for a cat.

  8. If You come to our Greek Orthodox Church our priest will

exorcise the devil out of you  for trying to name your child by that name

    Mephistopheles

... weird is that my mom keeps asking me who Mephistopheles is... only thing that I know is that the name itself is Greek and it means "he who shuns the light. ...

First of all see if it is legal to name the child Mephistopheles

Some Countries have restrictions on names.

In Canada you cannot name your child Jesus/ yet in Latin countries there are plenty.named by that name.

    Otherwise/

The child will be teased when learned by others what the name means.

I know you are probably joking, but there are so many people with original ideas today, you may be for real.

Name your child a name/  he/ she can live with and not be teased, and have hangups due to  The Devil Name

    From a Greek Orthodox Christian

  9. Nah, I think it would be cool if you had the right middle name and surname to go along with it. You'd have to call him by his middle name though, or else he would hate you. So let's seeeeeeee. Mephistopheles Percivus Jacobson. There yah go! You could call him by his middle name, Percivus, and call him Percy for short!

  10. faust fan?

and yes, not for the meaning but what kids will call him/her

    hey "meph"!

  11. I cant even read that name

  12. I want to name my kids thinks like Andromeda, Rhapsody, Jezebel, etc, so I really couldn't say.

  13. No crueller than calling him Hitler or Polpot.

  14. Not an crueler than Britney or Kylie

  15. yes it would

its almost as bad as: talula does the hulu from hawaii!

  16. Well it would be doubly cruel if you're child was dyslexic

  17. It would be okay, as long as you gave him/her a shorter nickname.

  18. Mephistopheles was the name of one of the cats in Andrew Lloyd-Webber's musical, 'Cats'. So you're not the only one who likes the name! But, if I were you, I'd content myself at dumping it on a cat who couldn't care less what you called it.

  19. Yes, it's long and unnecessary.

One syllable names are the best.
