  1. You can get Ranger school as an officer but you are not going to just get a Ranger slot or SF for the asking. Long, long list of people want to get there and unless you're something really special, you better have the politics down to a science.

You have a much better chance of getting there through the 82nd and working it from there. Especially SF where the brains of the operation are located.

It's a whole different ball game getting those slots as an officer than it is enlisted.

  2. Go to college, officers can go to ranger school and special forces also.

  3. either way you go, you can have it all AS LONG as you get it put on your contract when you enlist. When you sign your papers saying you will dedicate your life for this country, make sure those documents state in black and white all the schools you want to go to.  Its the ONLY way you will be garenteed anything. BLACK and WHITE! Good luck.

  4. Oky, first go infantry, volunteer for airborne and Ranger School after IOBC if you didn't get them in ROTC, then go to a light or airborne unit. Get some good platoon leader time (at least a year) then volunteer for the 75th Ranger Regiment as soon as possible. They will not take a new 2LT. You must have experience from another unit before joining in you are infantry. Other non combat-arms MOS's may vary, but you need to ask the Regimental Recruiter (not a regular Army one, but a actual one from the unit in the link below).

This from the unit official page....

"The 75th Ranger Regiment is continuously looking for energetic and highly motivated male, active duty soldiers to fill its ranks with the following skills. Contact the appropriate Ranger Recruiter for initial screening and application information."

You can start asking now especially if your in ROTC and definently once in your in the military. HRC's website was a detail step by step how to how including the packet and points of contact, but you need to be in the Army to open the link with an AKO password.

  5. Its either your a NCO or a CO.  thats all college determines.  you can go to ranger school as an enlisted.     I also dont think ranger and easy/easier/ any way you say it should ever be used in the same sentence.

  6. The Rangers are a great choice of special forces but it would be easier to enlist and then right after bootcamp go straight to airborne school which is only 3 weeks long then go for the rangers! Remember the rangers Lead the Way!

  7. ROTC. Go ROTC and try to get your college paid for. I also believe you get a small stipend each month. It is crazy hard to become an officer once you have graduated college by applying to OCS. Trust me.

Special Forces will be there after you graduate.
