Question:

Would it be good to mix sour cream w/ ricotta cheese for lasagna?

  1. dont use sour cream because it will just get all watery when it melts..use cottage cheese...it melts just like regular cheese but it makes lasagna sooo good..  =)


  2. Sounds kind of nasty. I'd stick with plain ricotta.

  3. you could but not much id say 1/4 cup sour cream for 1 cup ricotta dont forget to mix in some parmesan basil and parsley  

  4. I have used some sour cream in mine. I usually mix it with the mozz. cheese and dont use a lot. I use it when I make a total cheese lasagna with all kinds of cheese. If you use much cheese you just need to let it set up after baking.

    This is what I threw together tonight !



    1 lb of ground beef, browned, with small diced onions, drain

    1 box of lasagna noodles, cooked and drained

    1 small container of cottage cheese

    1 8 oz of sour cream

    2 eggs

    1 can cheddar cheese soup

    8 oz shedded mozz cheese

    8 oz cobly and jack cheese

    italian seasonings

    1 large jar of ragu or sauce you like



    Pour some sauce in bottom of pan

    Place noodles 3 across or to fill pan

    If using meat place across the noodles, spooning a bit of sauce over meat





    Combine the sour cream and cheddar soup

    Spoon on layer of meat

    Place another layer of noodles

    Combine eggs, mozz cheese, cottage cheese and some italian seasoning

    Spread over noodles

    Place layer of noodles

    Spread sauce over noodles

    Bake in over 350 til  hot and bubbly

    Take out and sprinkle cobly/jack cheese and cover with foil

    Heat til cheese is melted

    Let stand before cutting

    May sprinkle Italian seasonings over top depending on your taste





      

  5. Just use the ricotta cheese.  The sour cream has the wrong flavor, and would make it too liquidy when it bakes......but, add an egg and I add shredded mozzarella and/or provolone to the ricotta

  6. We mix a block of cream cheese, fresh parsley & the ricotta cheese. We love it.
