  1. vegan ?   You need some form pf protein in your diet. You can eat tofu

or you can eat eggs , but vegan is proven to be unhealthy. and no source of animal protein (no eggs). To get healthy you should do cardio, or weight train to get healthy ,(not go on some psycho vegan trip) . Know any normal vegans, didn't think so. Being vegan is a religion, not a diet. Try watching your calorie intake , as apposed to your calorie expenditure and adjust if you need to lose weight. Otherwise exercise, drink plenty of water, take a multi-vitamin, get plenty of sleep, and NO VEGAN.

  2. Vegetarian?

    Healthy?

    DOES NOT COMPUTE

  4. Being vegan is a very healthy lifestyle. Meats and dairy products don't really contain any vital nutrients. They are basically packed with saturated fats and high concentrations of animal proteins that harm the body and overburden the organs. Dairy doesn't contain any fiber whatsoever, so it sits and rots in your intestines. You would think milk is a great source of calcium right??? That is true, but the animal proteins prevent the absorption of calcium and you end up losing calcium. A great alternative is dark green leafy veggies. Some foods that a critical for leading a healthy lifestyle are:

    Beans

    Nuts

    Fruits

    Veggies

    Whole grains

These foods are nutrient and vitamin rich. A healthy vegan diet with no sugars and oils is known to reverse heart disease. A vegan diet will supply your body with everything it needs and provide you with more energy in the long run.. Good luck.

Oh.. and you may need to take a B-12 vitiman. It is naturally in fruits and veggies, but because of pestisides and such, the vitiman is extracted.

  5. Congrats on being a vegetarian.

You should be able to eat bread - just check the label for animal products...

Become a vegan because you want to be healthier or are "politically" against using animals for food / their output or dislike the taste.

But to be thinner?  At least choose fitness or something and be so shallow as to cr*p on about how "fat" you are...

Sorry one of my pet peeves is thin or average women who ***** about how "fat" they are (they're not).

  6. Of course! Just learn about veganism and nutrition and foods. Yes vegans can eat bread as long as it does not contain any animal products.

  7. It's healthy to go vegan, but you need to replenish the nutrients you're not getting such as proteins, and find alternative foods that have what you need from the eggs you're giving up now.

  8. I think I would be healthy as long as you incorporate plenty of beans/spinach/tofu into your diet for iron and protein. And vegans can eat bread.

Sean, how many vegans do you know? With your attitude, I imagine that it's not many (if any at all). The dietitian I saw once considered veganism a perfectly healthy diet, as long as you make sure that you include plenty of beans and/or tofu into your diet. And I had a blood test not that long ago which showed that I had good levels of iron, protein, calcium and vitaminB12. As for "normal" vegans, I can't count myself as normal as I'm reasonably weird, but my vegan friend seems to be pretty normal. I fail to see how veganism is a religion. Please explain.

  9. Being a vegan will make you very healthy.  I have never felt or looked better since becoming a vegan.  My skin is so beautiful.  It never breaks out and my hair is thicker and has stopped falling out.  I make a point of eating so healthy.  It doesn't bring on weight loss though.  That isn't the point of being a vegan.  You can eat bread as long as it doesn't have dairy or eggs in it.  Casein, whey, and lactose are dairy so look for those ingredients.  Meat eaters stop answering in this section if you can't give positive answers.  You are so uninformed about vegetarian.  I guess you like eating food with animal pus, hormones, antibiotics, and fat.

  10. congatulaations on wanting to go vegan! I myself have been vegetarian for about 2 years and vegan for almost a year.

being vegan is very healthy... if you can do it right.

In the beginning, it was hard for me to find protein, but then i found out about soymilk.... yum..... as for bread, look at ingrediients .

    going vegan will  change yourlife!

    good luck!

  11. If you want to be healthier, stop been a vegetarian.

If you want to be thinner, start exercising and eating foods low in kilojoules/calories (such as celery, which only has 17 kilojoules; you can even burn up most of those kilojoules by simply chewing).

  12. The people here who are saying vegetarianism is unheathy are ignorant morons. There are SO many reasons why vegetarianism is a healthy alternitive to an omni lifestyle. Since you're already a vegetarian, I don't think I need to explain those facts to you.

The most important thing for you to consider as a vegan is obtaining a source of vitamin B12 from a supplement, and making sure you're getting all the other nutrients you need. People following an omni diet should be doing the same thing- if you're an omnivore and you're under the impression that your diet is healthy, you better be doing some research to back that up- research based on information that comes from an impartial source, such as medical records and research work as most "information" on the subject comes from meat and dairy industry lobby groups, and its highly biased and often a real stretch from the truth.

A vegan diet is a great way to follow a healthy lifestyle and avoid all kinds of food-related causes to a whole multitude of diseases. Osteoporosis (caused by calcium deficiencies), for example, is *gasp* actually related to drinking of cow's milk. There are different types of calcium, some of which are easily absorbed into your body and some that are not. You should consider picking up a related book from your library- there are all kinds of great ones that will give you shopping lists, recipes, scientific information, nutrition information, and a whole plethora of relevant research!

Vegans can most certainly eat bread- my favourite bread before I chose to become vegan was actually vegan in the first place, so I didn't have to give it up. Read the ingredients, and find a bread that does not contain eggs or milk products. You'll be surprised by how many there are.

  13. I can't remember ever seeing so many morons answer the same question in this forum.

Losing weight an being healthy are not reason to be vegan.

You can lose weight or be healthy on an omni diet or a vegan diet. Whether you are healthy or not depends on how balanced your diet is.

The only way to burn fat is to burn more calories than you consume.

Either increase the your energy output by exercising, reduce input by eating less or both.

Most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals but still have a lower B12 status than recommended. It is strongly advised that EVERYONE take a B12 supplement, especially vegetarian and vegan persons.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily provide your body with everything else.
