Would it be illegal in Ontario for me to be dating a 16 year old if im 19? ?

i know the legal age of consent is 16 and the close age cluase of whatever its called means you have to be within 2 years of each other, but ive heard if the parents are ok with it, then it would be alright. we started dating when iwas still 18, i just worried about being charged now that im 19.

as long as you aren't having s*x you should be fine.    And 16 years old is too young to be having s*x.   Now even if the parents are alright with it now, if the girl ends up pregnant then they may change their minds and the guy arrested for statutory rape.    I don't know the laws in Canada but here in the USA.  Every state has different variations of that law.     If it were my daughter and she were 16 (I'm assuming the girl is 16) she would not be allowed to date a 19 year old until she was 18.    And if it were my son well the same rule applies.    Once you are both 18 that is fine but I would advise just friendship until then.    Once both of you are of age then it doesn't matter.   There is a 5 year age gap between my husband and I but we didn't meet until I was 20 and he was 25

Not illegal, just not smart. Most 16 year-olds are way too immature. You should be out dating some s**y, intelligent, older women.
