  1. My dogs tail is not too long, however he has a 'wack' behind that wag!

I no longer have a coffee table in my loungeroom or any ornaments on the floor. My home is fully tail proof. I keep any breakables higher than 18 inches from the ground!

I do however get horse whipped each morning, at 6.30 I might add, for walk time. As soon as Rocco see's my eyelids flicker the tail goes mad ( I must get him off the raw food diet, he wakes toooo early!).

I'd be teaching my dog to polish the furniture if I were you.

  2. Nah wouldn't do any good.... if the tail is docked the just beat you to death with the entire butt instead of just the tail :-).

  3. Yes. Make sure there aren't things to knock over, or don't have a dog.

  4. Yes it would be,any vet willing to do this should have their veterinary degree taken from them.Tails were once docked for aesthetic reasons, there is no evidence on the benefits. You should be proud your dog is happy & he is wagging his tail.Don't punish him for his happiness.Like ourselves maybe you could dog proof your tables etc from your dog as you would from a child. Our flooring is slate & we haven't had any broken cups etc for awhile.

  5. LOL  Boss you know that Golden's have constant Happy tail! :)

Thats why I dont have anything on any low tables.  I had a heck of time at Christmas seeing the ornaments on the tree go flying in the air! :)

They do make great dusters though!

No, docking the tail wont help either they will just get stuff with their happy butt wagging! :)

Yes all my Golden's have lethal tails!  I wouldn't have it any other way!

  6. well not the standard lol, never seen a Golden with a docked tail... yea i have that problem, my carpets can prove it :( my dogs always knock cups off the table with their tail

    d**n tigress settle down.

i guess these people dont know a joke question

  7. Yes...docking is done by 3 days of age. It can be painful after that as the bone has formed making this a painful procedure. Best suggestion put your stuff up higher or research better next time.

  8. Kalli's tail (or lack thereof) is teeny enough I don't have to worry about it.  She had it docked before I got her.  She's plenty dangerous with her feet without the tail too lol.

I'm sorry, but when I hear the word "tigress" I don't automatically think of someone who hates stupid people.  *shrugs*

  9. Tess has a wicked tail it is just the height to give the male humans a flick on the end of the old chap.

She is notorious at sending men to their knees!

Edit : Jazz tess goes for the eye ;)

  10. Hmmmm.  No, you can't dock it - but have you tried tying it to one of his legs??? ;-))

  11. My dog has no tail :o

Shes a yorkie, and it was docked at birth.  Well... she has a smell problem.  She can't find my dumb hermit crabs that escaped!!!

    =p

  12. i would say in the US docking tails is not inhumane, but is not normally practiced upon golden retrievers. the long fluffy tail is a trade mark of the golden IMO.

  13. I think any tail docking is inhumane..but haha, ya my  lab knocks everything over with his tail. So now we are training him to be quiet in the house.

  14. LMAO!

I thankfully live in a tail-free home.  Ahhhh - The beauty of Australian Shepherds!

  15. One of mine does indeed have a dangerous tail. He himself is only about 6 inches long but I swear that tail is at least as long as his body. We call it the whip as it can hurt when it slaps your legs.

To answer your question no it would not be right to dock that beautiful tail but I sure would be moving things up higher.

  16. You should just get higher tables... lol

  17. Oh, Christ....are you ever preaching to the choir.

You've got it easy....your Golden has a nice fluffy tail. My pitties tails are like whips, and are capable of clearing off a glass-top coffee table in a matter or seconds (luckily, cream soda doesn't stain)...and seeing as they NEVER stop wagging, I've been whacked more than once.

In fact, Rocco managed to knock a brand new Yankee candle off the table with the power of his tail.

  18. Seriously, yes!  Elvis is a 130 lb. Coonhound with an enormous tail that is quite literally, dangerous!

His tail is typically at the same height as a man's "junk" and Elvis is a happy, social kind of fellow.  In his happiness he can impact the male t******e which causes terrible pain and has in some cases led to testicular infections.  No kidding!

All we can do is warn men to protect themselves when greeting Elvis.  And post glasses up on taller tables.

  19. YES eww  poor thing
