  1. Uhmmm, I wouldnt. Babys are not supposed to have whole milk until they are at least a year old. Just give him his formula until its time for that change just to be on the safe side:-)

  2. My pediatrician recommended that I keep my son on formula until 12 months but my best friend sees a different pediatrician with her son and she was told that she could switch him to whole milk at 9 months old.  My son is a happy, healthy 17-month old now weighing 25lbs and my friend's little boy is 22-months old and only weighs 21lbs that is sick more than my son.  My son goes to daycare and her son stays with her mom. I personally think it is too early before 12 months not only because of what the doctors say, but about what I have researched on the internet.

Also, before changing anything with your baby's diet I would talk to his/her pediatrican.

  3. depends on your childs weight and growth.  The more bigger (overweight) your child is, doctors recommend putting them on milk sooner.  Is your child still using a bottle or on a sippy cup is the next question.  If they are still on a bottle then I would say formula only, and then start working to milk a little at a time in a sippy cup.  Plus powder formula is easier to keep on the go unless you plan to use shelf life milk.  Why are you trying to start so fast?  Is it the cost of the formula compared to milk?

  4. If you have any concerns just call your doc.  It really shouldn't be a problem if you start out slowly.  Maybe with just one bottle a day to start because it is a little early.  Another factor to consider is how well does your child do with solids/baby food?  I'd say if he/she is a good eater than I'd be even less concerned about it.

  5. No.  A baby should not have regular milk until they are a year old.  The reasons are:  regular cow's milk has too much sodium for the baby's system to handle and cow's milk does not have the proper nutrients for a baby.

If you are breastfeeding, there's no need to give him formula at all.  Continue to breastfeed for at least the first year (the WHO recommends a minimum of TWO years).  You can give him a little cow's milk when he is a year old, but's it's not really necessary if he is still getting enough calcium from your breastmilk or other foods.

  6. I don't think you should mix them. I would wait until at least 11 months before introducing whole milk because 4 weeks isn't going to make that much difference.

  7. I actually went for my son's 9 month appointment yesterday and asked him about this because we won't be seeing the dr again until my son is a year old.

He said that cow's milk in food and a little in a sippy cup is okay, but hold off giving him large amounts.  There's an ingredient in cow's milk that has lead to anemia in infants under 12 months.

  8. From my experience ( I have 19 months old twins), I would say not to mix formula with whole milk; You can give the baby whole milk after 1 year.

  9. if you want to you can i didn't start whole milk till 11 months because that's what the doctor advised and also your baby still needs the nutrients form the formula. good luck

  10. I wouldn't do it. At 10 months your baby still needs all the nutrients of formula that milk will not provide, not even with half formula. Do not attempt to switch your child to whole milk until at-least 12 months. My son was a poor eater, I kept him on formula until 18 months, but that's not necessary.
