  1. I definitely agree that if it is in a glass tank not to do it due to the risk of over heating and cooking your turtles. Another reason I would be weary is that people sometimes steal turtles and tortoises out of people's backyards because of how much they are worth. I talked to one lady at a local PetSmart who had owned a Sulcata Tortoise that had reached about 90 lbs. and she had an area of her yard fenced off with chicken wire. She went inside for a minute to check on something and when she came back the chicken wire had been stomped to the ground and the tortoise was long gone. That fast!

  2. I have quiet a few reptiles and lots of books and lots of knowledge on MY animals.... not turtles but I have heard to never set a glass tank outside it will nuke your reptiles like a microwave plus I used to live in the boondocks in N.E. Nebraska where there was alot of farm ponds and I have seen lots and lots of painted turtles basking but not one snapper they were always in the water or mud GOOD LUCK!!

  3. It won't matter to the turtle either way!

  4. Thts Wat I Do. I Have 4 Red Eared Slider.

And All They Do Is Just Get Up On The Rock Of Their Taink Or On Top Of One Another & Try To Soak Up Some Sun.

  5. If it's in a glass tank, don't do it. The inside of the tank can heat up and kill it. I've seen where people have done it before. And snappers aren't real fond of basking anyway and seem to prefer shady places where they can remain hidden.

  6. Don't do it if it's in a class tank because the heat builds up in them really quick.  If you wanted you could get a baby pool and put it in that for a little while (you may need to find something to go around the edge of it to prevent escaping depending on how high you make the water).
