to cut back the ivy growing on my tree as it is hindering my view to the bird box every year i get great pleasure watching my wee sparrows from the scullery window, if i cant cut it back now when would it be safe to do dont want to kill it thanks

  1. Yeah no problem, i have ivy growing up my shed on the one side, i cut it back all the time because it spreads rapidly in the summer.   I even pull a lot of the leaves off also.  It doesn't kill it, it just keeps growing back anyway...


  2. Ivy is very resistant. I cut down a huge amount of it last year - hoping to get rid of it completely and it is growing back as vigorous as ever! So cut it right back and it will be fine. {my other ivy I cut back hard every year and trim it using the hedge clippers. Honestly - you couldn't kill it if you tried!

  3. You cant kill ivy. Cut it back as much as you like, in fact it will give the tree a world of good

  5. I really don't think you can harm ivy by cutting it back.
