  1. Actually it is OK to have a Siberian husky in louisiana because they are very versatile dogs.  And there coat acts as a insulations for them both in the heat and in cold weather. But you do  have to be careful and watch them because they are escape artist that will get away and get lost.

  2. NO! Not for the Husky it's not okay!

Would it be okay to grow a cactus in the Arctic?

  3. My husband had one before we were married and lived in one of the nastiest parts of Louisiana.  That poor dog was MISERABLE!  However, if you are in a situation where you HAVE TO move there and can't part w/ your dog, my only advice to you is to make sure you keep the dog in the house with the air conditioner on.  They can handle short periods of time in the heat, but leaving them out to deal with it (and the summer rain) all day would be mean.  Also, make sure you're aware of the need to TAKE THEM WITH YOU if you have to evacuate for a hurricane!

One other thing you may want to consider is having a vet shave the dog every summer.  It keeps the hair shedding to a minimum and keeps them a bit cooler than if they were covered in a full coat.

Good luck to you and your pup!

  4. They don't handle heat well.

Mine was pretty miserable in N.Y summertime.

Louisiana? .... Shouldn't happen to a dog like that.
