I have volleyball tryouts & camp coming up soon & I'm expecting my period soon.I just can't bring myself to ask my mom for tampons. It was hard enough telling her I got my period.I have one tampon that I could use.I got it out of a machine a while ago.If I had to wear a pad would it be ok, or would i smell?I will be wearing tight spandex with regular shorts over them so I'm not worried about anything falling out or showing.I'm just worried about odor.

  1. If your hygiene is good and you change it regularly, you shouldn't have a problem.  People would have to be really intimate with you to notice an odor.  If you do have an odor problem that is unusual, tampons are the way to go since the blood mixing with the air is what creates the odor.  But, I'm sure you have never noticed a smell with your friends in a casual setting and they likewise will not notice anything from you.  Many teenagers use pads and not tampons.

  2. First of all, you should ask your mom for tampons.   Think about it like this, she was a teenager too once.  I know it seems like it should be embarassing, but periods are just a natural event in a woman's life.  All women have them...As for your question, a pad should be just fine.  Be sure to shower alot during your time of the month.

  3. I would definetly wear a tampon. They're kinda uncomfortable the first couple of time u wear them but they are totally worth it. u dont want to wear a pad

  4. it would be ok... but believe me it's not comfortable at all to wear a pad with spandex... i was at a game one day and i started and all there was in the locker room were pads! ugghh! i was uncomfortable during the entire game! i would ask your mom for tampons... there is no reason to be embarrassed.. you forget she's been your age too and she understands more than you know.

  5. well yes & no. i personally hate pads either way, but thats just me.

i have used a tampon since i started my period.

wearing a pad will most likely be bothersome whe playing volleyball.

one reason is because volleyball is alot about diving, runnung for the ball, & basic movements.

a pad could be irritating, & might even cause a rash there from sweat & rubbing.

i would highly recommend a tampon, just because they are so much more low mantinance than pads.

& most girls who play volleyball just wear the spandex, no shorts over them. thats how i do it, & i dont even wear underwear at all w/ them. i think this is the most comfortable way to play. (:

one more thing, you should not be afraid to ask your mom for tampons. believe me, im not gonna lecture you on this cause im the exact same way, i hate to tell my mom these types of things. but you also have to keep in mind that she is a girl, & goes through the same thing as you. just tell her that you would be so much more comfortable, & you would just feel better in your head if you knew that you were safe from any "accidents" that may occur w/ the period w/ a tampon.

    i hope this helps!

    katie (:

  6. yes..

  7. I understand that your very young, I'm guessing your around my daughters age and I'm going to tell you what I told her, ok? It'll make your life alot easier if you just get use to using tampons. They are a blessings for us women. They are very comfortable, that is after you get use to them. They are less detectable and you can always wear a lite pantyliner for extra protection till you getter down. Don't be afraid to try, you won't hurt yourself. Just make sure you remove the final and don't wear them too long. Thats not good for you. Ask your Mom, I bet she'll be happy that you confided in her and she'll then realize too that its a stepping stone you two can share----that is you've become a young WOMEN now, CONGRATS! and Good Luck and have fun at camp and kick some butt in V-ball girl!!! Big Smile!!

  8. i just had the same problem recently, mom issue and all!!! ya dont worry about it, the air is so filled with the smell of sweat and deodorant that no one will notice, including you. especially since you'd be wearing two pairs of shorts.

  9. Wear a big one.

Maybe buy some tampons on your own.

    You might smell.... well prolly.

  10. Yes.  No one will really notice on odor.  Everyone are sweating & enjoying the game instead of thinking who period came.

  11. you should be ok. if you are worried then during breaks go to the bathroom and change your pad.

    good luck at tryouts
