  1. I've asked myself the exact same question!!

I've done it, and I've also dragged random friends on cruises. Here are the pros and cons, in my view:

    ADVANTAGES of going by yourself:

    - You don't have the hassle of finding someone to come with you

    - You can spend your vacation exactly how you want to

    DISADVANTAGES of going by yourself:

    - You pay the full cabin price yourself.  Cruise tickets are quoted based on double occupancy (That said, I've once or twice given friends/relatives free cruises just so I wouldn't sail alone)

    - It can be a little lonely.  Most people are paired up or traveling with families.  RCI was the worst to be solo -- no nightlife or socializing.  Carnival, Holland America Line and Celebrity were okay.

If you do go solo, be sure to ...

    - Ask for a set dining time and dinner table, and ask for a big table.  That way you'll have a good chance to get to know some people.  If the Maitre d' is good, he'll hopefully put you with other singles

    - Go to the social events, especially on the first night

Not sure if you're already totally knowledgeable about cruises, but if you want to read up on what life is like onboard, how to pick a cruise that suits what you want (e.g., social life / relaxation / formality) you might find this guide useful:

  2. No,definitely not. If you are talking about going on a singles cruise, that's exactly what they are for, single people.

If you are talking about going on a cruise as a single person, there is no reason why not, lots of people do it and have a really good time. We have been on 20+ cruises and have met loads of single cruisers.

One lady we met in Nice, was 80 years old, and had always cruised by herself, she preferred it, because she met so many people and always had a good time.

Give it a try, people who go cruising are friendly, you will enjoy it.

  3. Nah.... I'd totally luv it!

  4. That's crazy because I'm contemplating the same thing right now.  My only one week vacation over the next two years and I want to make it enjoyable.  Unfortunately, a cruise is the only thing that I can think of no-one to go with!! (All my loser friends have different schedules :: sighs :: ) blaaahhh.....

  5. No, it would be pathetic to go on a couples cruise by yourself.

  6. they have single cruises. my sister would do that stuff. i think it was called club med. isn't sandals linked with it? have a blast.

  7. If the cruise is specifically for singles, then no, it would a fabulous idea, because you'll be surrounded by people who are in your same boat, so to speak.

To be honest, you'll have more fun if you take a friend along.

  8. Isn't that the idea? Like you're supposed to go out and meet people.

  9. Any cruise is a great idea! Go have fun!

  10. Going in a cabin by yourself will cost you the same price or even more than if you were traveling with someone. Everything will be doubled. If money is not an issue then it is not pathetic at all. There is so much to do and so many people to meet that U wont realize that the cruise is over.

  11. My first cruise I went alone.  Beforehand put me in a singles group and set me up with a roommate.  I had a great time.  There were several singles groups.  You didn't have to stay with them all day.  It was since having a group to have dinner with and take excursions with.

  12. Pathetic? No. BUT, like someone else mentioned you may end up spending the same for just you as you would if there were 2 in the room. If that doesn't matter to you then cruise on! If you weren't prepared to spend the full 2 person amt then try to recruit someone to go with you. I'll volunteer!!!!!!!

  13. ill go with you....im hot are you?
