would it be possible to put a cdma chip into an iphone for use on a CDMA based network liker verizon wireless?

  1. No, two different technologies.  Iphones uses gsm. So, your carrier will not support if it would turn on after you install it.


  2. I'd have to say no. Physically the iPhone PCB is designed specially for the chip & antennae already on it. Replacing them with a CDMA chip & antennae might be possible, but then you'd have trouble putting the iPhone back together again. Plus you'd have to change the software to enable the CDMA chip to work.

    It's certainly not something you'd be able to do in the average bedroom. You'd need a mobile-telecommunication engineering (hardware & software) background, and specialist tools. Basically, you'd have to ask Apple to do it... which they wont.
