The western United States could be supplied i believe, with almost all of its electrical needs since the sun is almost always shining and wind blowing in this area of the United States.

  1. Solar thermal power plants make more sense on a large scale and are already being built in the southwest. They can provide a tremendous amount of energy, and are almost entirely non-polluting (pollution is created during construction, like with anything).

  2. you took our water

    you polluted the desert.

you have taken land for military bases

and left behind live ordinance. and toxins

all the city folk come out here and tear up the desert

AND NOW YOU WANT TO TAKE MORE OF OUR LAND FOR YOUR SOLAR PLANT A WIND MILLS

PUT THEM IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD WE DON"T WANT THEM>

  3. On the solar cells they must be mounted very secure ,and designed to stand 100 mph. winds.

  4. Theres a solar farm I think outside of 29 Palms in the desert.

  5. There is 354 MW of solar energy being produced in Kramer Junction and Harper Lake, CA

There are hundreds of wind mills in Mojave, CA

So yes they are making energy.

A new 64.5 MW solar plant was opened in June 2007 near Las Vegas, NV

  6. I'm sure it would be possible, but unfortunately it would most likely raise our tax dollars. It would be extremely expensive to do that.

  7. I'm not to sure on this but i think it would be possible. The problem is who will pay for it and how will it get to to cities across the desert?

  8. It will supply a little bit of energy but not match.  Covering the entire desert with windmills and solar panels would not match the output of a single nuclear reactor.
