Would it be silly to move to the UK just because I don't like the USA?

I'm growing fond of the UK - it seems better there. I've always wanted to live there, and I think when I turn 18, I'll think a bit more seriously about it. I really want to. I'm 4 months away from being a legal adult.

I'm also not too happy because I'm pretty sure that someone I don't like is going to be president.

Would it be silly to move to the UK just because?

  1. It wouldn't be silly to do it, if that's what you want, but it is a big decision.

What about your family and friends. Where will you live, what about a job. Your pets.

Have you ever been to the UK, it may be a better idea for you to come here for a while to see what it's really like and if it is for you.

I don't like the Prime Minister here, but I don't see that as a reason to leave, he won't be Prime Minister for ever.

  2. I would not move anywhere out of the US until the war is over. In my opinion it would be a bad idea. But if your fond of the UK... move there, but wait till the war is over :o)

  3. Not silly at all!  I've been to London many times - It's a GREAT City (I'll be flying through there tomorrow in fact on my way home from Germany).

It is however VERY expensive to live there and everything there is expensive.  Basically, prices are the same as the US, but in Pounds (1.9753 Pounds = 1 Dollar).  For an example, I'll use a T-Shirt at the Gap.  If you buy a T-Shirt for $27 in the US, that same T-Shirt at the Gap in London will be £27, or at today's exchange rate, $53.32.

But my advice to you is do it while you're young.  Live life, see the world and enjoy every minute while you can!  Look into going to college there - It's a lot easier to get a Student Visa than a Work Permit.
