Would it be smart to install a BOV (blow off valve) ?

I have a 2002 ford mustang coupe. nothing special everything is stock except my exhaust. I know what the purpose of a bov is i really just want it for the noise and to syke out other drivers

  1. you are probably talking about a muffler cut out as there would be no reason for a blow off valve as some described it as.

    But if you got a good aftermarket muffler , It won't give you anything  


  2. Blow off valves are for turbo cars. You can't really put one on a stock motor without a turbo. There are many cheap devices out there that claim to "mimic" the sound of a BOV, but they sound silly. Anyone who knows about cars would be able to tell its not real.  

  3. it would be impossible to install a blow off valve in a car without turbo. where would you put it? the bov goes on the output of the turbo. when the turbo disengages, the buildup pressure exits through the valve and makes the sound.

  4. Where would you put it? Blow off valves are for turbos and superchargers to relieve pressure when you lift off the gas.
