Question:

Would it be too hot to travel to Mexico in July?

I'm planning a trip for the summer in late July. I'm thinking Mexico, somewhere like Cozumel or Playa Del Carmen. Would it be mistake do to unbearably hot weather conditions? I've looked at weather charts and they say 88-92 being the avg. temp. for that time of year in those areas. I don't know if I believe them, and would be interested to know if anyone has any personal experience.

  1. I have been to both of those places in June.  It is hot, but not unbearable, however I'm from MS and used to the heat.  Bear in mind that you are closer to the equator so that makes it a bit hotter also, but there are nice breezes on the beach.

  2. I agree with the first post, if you are looking at Cozumel or Playa Del Carmen you are going to have an ocean breeze. You should be fine, after all you're going to be sipping margaritas not digging ditches so hot and sunny is what you should be looking for.

  3. I think it is hurricaine season from June till September, right?

  4. That is true. Believe it.

One advantage on the weather in a tropical country is that the temperature does not varies as much as it does in northern (...or southern) sites. The temperature does not reach as hot as it does as, for example, in Las Vegas on the same time.

Here, in tropical areas in México, the hottest season of the year is spring, not summer (it means, right now). By the way, not all México is inside the tropics: Sonora state is out of the tropic and summer is very hot; the north is out if the tropic.

They can be at 100º F in july at California or even higher in Arizona or Nevada, while we are at 90ºF.

  5. It rains all summer so the temperatures are not so high.

  6. It is very hot and humid, but you'll be on a swimming suit catching a tan, right? by the ocean and drinking at least water :o)

Inside hotels, malls, cars the air conditioning is your friend, so... it's up to you, but it is defenetely HOT.

  7. dude theres a nice breeze not unbearable like here in texas

  8. Cozumel is good year around. or else it would not be a big tourist hot spot. Just dont go to northen mexico, it gets to 125 degrees and 100% humidity. its awful.
