  1. Clearly some people are more valuable to society than others. A doctor will always be more valuable than a junkie. Potential has nothing to do with worth. Everyone has potential, only a few offer something of worth to society.

  2. lol i used the people in glass houses one about half an hour ago when someone critisied my question. I agree with all the abve statements

  3. Yes, all true.

  4. sure have you read Animal Farm by Orwell?

  5. Oh so true, and yes these are all true great sayings.

  6. These are all "put you in your place" sayings. I say the first is an example of passive-aggressive behavior.

It is a fundamental truth that some people are treated better than others, but when it comes right down to it, does it really matter? If we keep focusing on what someone else is getting that we are not, we do ourselves a big disservice and being selfish. We are wasting time and energy on something that we have very little control over, that does not really help us in our personal growth.

In the extreme, it is what has happened to the madman who feels he is in the right as he guns down innocent people.

The other 2 are great life lessons. If you aren't willing to be judged, don't judge people.

    peace.

  7. Would it be true to say "people are equal but some are more equal than others"? Yes - that's straight out of George Orwell's "Animal Farm".

    And it's so very true!

  8. yes it is true that some people are more equal than others ... but this doesn't mean we have to like it ... lol ...

I have not heard the glasshouse one before ... but yes throwing stones would not be the best idea...

And the last one sounds a bit like one of the saying I live by ...

... dont do things to people that you dont want them to do to you ...

... hope it makes sense ... I translated it ...

lol ...so yes good sayings ....

  9. No.  The notion of "equality" is about as nebulous as "justice" and based on the questionable notion that all people should be treated the same way.

I have no idea what the whole 'glass house' thing is about.  Yes, I have flaws.  Yes, I know they're there.  Yes, I see others doing things that really don't work for them.  Just because I am not yet perfect does not imply I should do nothing while watching someone else drown.

"Dishing it out" is about judgements and demands.  You tell me - how well does it work to judge others and demand that they be other than how they are?

Good sayings?  How about pithy aphorisms.  Not particularly useful in my life...

  10. I guess your use of the word equal is in jest lol...but yes, I believe it is a true statement.  Each person has their own strengths and weaknesses.... and some have MORE strength in MORE areas than others.

It is viewed as unfair only by those who don't value their  strengths or accept their weaknesses.

  11. Equal is equal.  There's no such thing as "more equal" or "less equal."

I do agree with the second one though.  If you can't handle something, take care not to dish it out.  It's along the same lines as all the sayings that basically mean the same as "treat people how you want to be treated."

  12. By very definition, noone can be "more equal" than anyone else.
