Tha cladding offers already protection against corrosion, would it be useful to anodize over the cladding?

  1. Alclad is merely a thin surface layer of pure aluminum. Alclad does cause a reduction in tensile and yield strength and if any machining / finishing operations are performed the Alclad is gone. The various Anodizing processes protect finished machined parts, a good quality Hard Black Anodize beats the heck out of Alclad. I've never spec'ed Alclad for anything, but I have had a boatload of Aluminum anodized over the years..
