  1. Any of the hibiscus species will make a nice hedge.

The Rose of Sharon, which is a hibiscus, makes a beautiful hedge and is grown that way a lot.  Tropical hibiscus can be formed into a hedge but doesn't respond as well to hedge type pruning.  Hardy hibiscus, (Rose Mallow or Swamp Mallow) is used for hedges also but demands lots of water.

    Go for it!

  2. wow - what a beautiful hedge that would make!!!  By all means, I would definitely try it.  We have hibiscus  and love them!

  3. No you could do a hibiscus hedge I once saw that in one of those mail order nursery catalogs. I get about 10-12 of those catalogs in the mail every year- in fact I got one today!

Here..... i looked up their web address in the catalog and found inexpensive Hibiscus for you:

They do grow fast and you may need to trim them back but I think you have to find the right variety.

Sometimes people confuse the rose o' sharon for hibiscus which is better for growing a hedge instead of a hibiscus Their flowers look a lot alike -  here from the same catalog are those:

How about rose hedge that would be beautiful. I think I would prefer these:
