I applied at Wells Fargo and at my local high school district. I am on the verge of getting my B.A. next semester. What I was wondering (since I need a job) is that should I accept the job offer from Wells Fargo where I know I will have a paycheck but I'm looking at 11 dollars an hour at best, or should I just do the substitute teaching thing?

I am going to school Twice a week next semester and would like to substitute two or three times a week (@ $125/day)

I guess I'm just wondering what other subs usually do, do they have other part time jobs? Do they get enough calls/ week?

  1. Even teachers have part-time jobs (summer school, weekends at retail stores, etc.) so I can only see a part-time job as beneficial to a substitute.

Mondays and Fridays are the best days for substitute teaching in my district. You're most likely to get substitute jobs on those days.

Get a set schedule and let the district know exactly when you're going to be available. Make sure you *are* available on those days. You'll get a reputation for availability on those days and teachers will begin to request you.

  2. If you are able to become an established sub, then you will be able to get more consistent work, which works very well for a lot of people.  Otherwise, I think you're absolutely right to get a part time job as well.  Good luck!

  3. When I subbed I had plenty of work and I only worked in 3 buildings.  I also had a part time job in the evenings too, so it works out fine.  Get your name on the sub list at several buildings that you would be comfortable at and then let your boss at Wells Fargo know that you can work after 3 or so.  Good Luck!
