Question:

Would it be wise to invest in MOS now, for the short term?

I am doing a project for my Economics class and I have to find two companies that I can invest $50,000 and that will increase in value in the next 5 days. I was thinking of either DIS, MOS, BUD, or Bandai on the TSE. It's fake money and a made up process, but it is required to try and make as much money as possible.

Any suggestions? Are any of those good ideas for short term investment?

Thanks a bunch!

  1. Your timing with MOS would leave you with the risk of a quick and sharp pullback, since it has already rallied over 25% in the last couple of weeks.  DIS will not give you much of a move.  BUD looks like your best possibility.  CNBC reported a bid to buy that company for $65 per share, closed at $58.35 today.

  2. Yes, but do you think it will go up or down?  You can make money either way.

  3. I would pick Monsanto due to its scientific advances in corn and soy bean seeds.   But, diversify with a non-agriculture stock like a retail chain or even DIS.    But, everyone knows about DIS and I see limited "pop" to a know story.  My second choice might be a bank in Brazil like ITU, BBD or UBB.   The costs of a purchse on the TSE would be higher than the U.S. exchanges, if you are a U.S. resident.
