I want answers from people of experience. I don't wanna hear opinions. Costs include replacing the burnt lightbulbs inside the projector too.

  1. Other than the issue of setting up a projection room theatre in a really dark room, front projection is the way to go in order to create the movie experience.  The actual cost of a 3,000 hour projection bulb with the light setting at econ or low is about $0.25 cents per hour.  And according to the December 2006 issue of Consumer Reports, "front projectors" are superior in image quality to plasma and lcds."  Take a moment to find out if any of your neighbors have a home theatre setup and ask to be invited for a showing of a DVD movie.  You will likely become an addict to front projection especially if you are a game player.

    Good luck!

  2. I had a projector tv, but the cost of the bulb was more than i paid for the projector, Never leave it just playing as it runs down the life of the bulb, if you know which projector tv you are going to buy, check on the price of the bulb replacement. Good Luck!

  3. Well, I have a projector, set up in a home theater room, with built into the walls surround sound.  It makes it much more like a movie experience, so yes, I think its worth it.  Plus- I think you are kind of incorrect.  Projectors project a much larger image than you can get on a reasonable priced TV.  My projector screen is 105", and the image fills the screen.  There are a few 100" TV's out there, but you'd have to take out a second mortgage to afford one.

However- projectors arent great in a room with much LIGHT.  If its not going to be at least relatively dark, I'd go for the TV.

  4. Depends on how much you are using it. The average life of a lamp is 2000hrs. Epson just came out with some that last 3500hrs that are the same price model 6110i. the lamps for most projector will cost $300.-$600 depending on the brightness or lumens. You can get a very nice projector between $1000.-$4000. I personally think that brightness/lumens is more important than resolution. stay 2000 lumens or above.  P.S a projector has about a 6 year life span
