Would it be worth it to make my own long board?

I made a skateboard in grade 8 at school.. but Im just wondering if it would work, or if it would be worth trying to make a long board? if it might possibly work, any suggestions on what wood to use and stuff?

Yes of course it would be worth it to make you own and if you make it with quality stuff it can last longer than if you buy one.  Just make sure that the wood is like oak or you could go fiberglass strips with some kind of epoxy in between then.  The best quality board I've ever seen was made from bamboo it is also the lightest board when it is in it's finished product.
