Question:

Would it be worth it to put a performance chip in my 1994 Cadillac Eldorado?

Its the 4.2 liter 32 valve northstar in it. With 300 hp stock its already pretty quick. I was just wondering if it would be worth the money to get a chip put in? If not, then what else could i do to get a little more out of the engine?

Thanks in advance.

  1. You could get more horsepower. It is unlikely that you'll receive any negligible fuel economy but that doesn't seem to be what you're trying to achieve anyway. If you're just looking for more power you might check into upgraded turbos, air intake & exhaust in addition to electronics (as long as warranty is not an issue because many dealers are not after-market friendly, but that would have to be one heck of an extended warranty.)

  2. it'd be worth it.

  3. '94 is pretty old, so I'm not sure about the performance increase from a chip, but a performance headers and a nice exhaust would help out quiet a bit. Maybe you can install a K&N cold intake, that will save you some cash. I don't know how far you want to go, but once you upgraded one part, then you need to upgrade another one and so on...

What ever you do, DO NOT get any kind of "tornado fuel saver" or any type of "seen on tv" products! They do NOT work, but decrease performance!

  4. guarantee you'll blow the engine in 6 months.  why do you need more than 300hp.  better yet get a civic or something cool  -- not that Titanic
