  1. If you have a good voice and you're charismatic, singing Tomorrow is the best thing to do in an Annie audition. Remember that this song describes the whole concept of the movie. It's about the hope of an orphan who knows that tomorrow is a better day. Good luck doing that! I hope they will choose you...

  2. You never sing from the show you are aditioning for unless asked to do so.  That's the general rule.  You run the risk of singing the song in a way that eliminates you from the running for the role that you want because you didn't sing it the way the director had in mind.  Best to sing something that suggests the character you want and shows off your range and ability.  Since it is important for Annie to be able to hit some pretty hardcore belting notes, they may ask you to sing some bars from Tomorrow at the callback OR I've actually seen them prefer to hear Maybe because some feel the ballad is more difficult.  It all depends on your director.

What I recommend is to prepare all 3.  Have your main audition song but practice Tomorrow and Maybe as well.  If you're comfortable you may ask them which they prefer to hear or just go with your main song and know that your are ready and prepared for anything.

    best of luck,

    Marianne

  3. No, it would not be wrong at all. In fact, it may help. If you are trying out for the part of Annie, then singing a song from the movie will let them know that you can do it.

  4. Yes it would.  You never audition with a song from the show you are trying our for unless requested to sing it by the director.  This is a rule of musical theatre...Trust me I've been in musical theatre for years.  Try singing "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Miserables.

  5. Why not? Go for it! Good Luck!

  6. Some may say its overdone and the person listening to all the 'Tomorrow's would get sick of the song, but if you rock out loud at it and you sound even the slightest bit more original than the others, go for it!! Tomorrow is a great song!!! Breathe, do your singing and breathing exercises, drink alot of water, go in there, take a gulp, a deep breathe, and go for it!!

  7. I think they will hear a lot of Tomorrow. If you can make it your own and belt it as the best Tomorrow they have ever heard that would be amazing. Otherwise a sweet but strong rendition of Maybe would be good or We`re Getting a New Deal for Christmas. You might be original while still staying within the Annie musical and showing your spunky Annie personality by singing Easy Street.

  8. Don't do it. Unless asked to sing something from the show, never sing from the show you are auditioning for. First of all, there will be several others singing "Tomorrow;" and it's used on a regular basis anyway. Instead, show your range and sing something from a different show.

  9. It might be better if you use a different song.

    Good Luck!!

  10. i wouldnt suggest it. if you want the part of annie id say audition with "maybe" its less "known" than tomorrow and you know that just about everyone who auditions will do tomorrow. when i auditioned for a production of annie i sang maybe and little girls and a got a pretty good part-pepper. so  surprise your directors a bit with a different song--good luck

  11. NEVER SING A SONG FROM THE MUSICAL THAT YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR!!! it is a very big role...they look for range and they want to get a wide range and they want more or a singer that can go farther than the song..if you know what i mean?

    good luck!
