Would it benefit a business if they tracked items that are ordered together by and individual customer?

How could a business generate and use this information?

This would be a small business...nothing online.

Yes, it has great possibilities.

For example, selective marketing of new products.

"rifle" promotions instead of "shotgun" promotions.

Use your computer to keep track.  Start off with a something simple like notepad with one page per customer and one line for each item ordered.

For each item you want the name/description the quantity sold and the price per unit.  Periodically you should calculate the total sales for each customer.  You may find that 70% of your business comes from 10% of your customers.  That will tell you where to focus your marketing efforts to get the best return on your investment.
