Would it have been better to release "The Love Guru" in October rather than June...?

...to funnel increased interest in hockey into NHL ticket sales and TV ratings? Will the increased interest in hockey have waned by the time the 2008-09 NHL season arrives?

Or do you think this movie will not impact hockey's popularity? Or possibly negatively impact it?

  1. I agree the movie looks pretty dumb. I don't think it will help hockey at all

  2. All I know is it is around the time us Leaf fans are most vulnerable...right after a team wins the Stanley Cup!

  3. yea. and in stead of the black guy they should of used Martian Brodeur, his wife and sister-n-law that would b funny ( for you ppl that dont know what im talkin about... Brodeur cheated on his wife with his sister)

BTW Brodeur's sister-n- law are getting married

  4. Is it really that related to hockey i mean ive seen the leafs in the previews and stuff but is it really that closely related?

  5. Usually the huge money for movies is when the movies go to DVD sales.Plus if they have it out in October they don't want people to go to the movies instead of watching the NHL on Versus or Center Ice.Plus if "Miracle" didn't bring people to hockey nothing will.

  6. the love guru isn't much of a hockey movie anyways. it's a comedy. it spoofs the leafs, so yeah people not just hockey fans will go watch it because it's going to be very funny. the hockey moments aren't even that long, but atleast it was written into the film.

also mike myers is from my town, so i can't say anything bad about him. i think it's funny that the nhl even got invovled with this movie, because it just reaks of desperation to attract/draw borderline hockey fans attention to summer things like the stanley cup finals/the draft, and that's why i laugh everytime i see the stupid love guru SC playoffs commercial because it's weak as h**l.

i don't think it'll have an impact at all, if anything people will say hey isn't that the leafs, or what was that hockey team in that funny movie that came out this summer. like blaze said it looks like a fairytale, and it's going to be the perfect summer comedy. cheap humour r us. that's my kind of thing.

lmao. this movie will not be enough to capture the attention of people and hold it in ransom until the start of next season.

  7. It's not going to impact hockey's popularity at all....you know the only people going to see it are hockey fans. Hockey fans who really miss their hockey in late June......lol.

Plus I think it's better to releases it in June because when it comes out....there will be no hockey! Hockey fans need their hockey somehow! If they released it in October I probably wouldn't go see it because I could watch real hockey anytime on the tv. I'd just wait till it came out on dvd.

  8. I agree with J.O-Blaz, the team involved in the movie is Toronto, so if anything it would bring down the popularity of hockey.

  9. Well it is an obvious Fairy Tail....It has to do with the Leafs in the cup.

  10. it probly has no impact, since alot of ppl already think bad of hockey.

i think these b**t**ds did that on purpose, though, in case it possibly does have a positive effect on hockey. those d@mn anti-hockey b****es

  11. If they release it in June, they are trying to keep the momentum going from the cup finals. Until the Draft happens. Smart thinking if you ask me

  12. Mariola... Brodeur cheated on his wife with HER sister.  not his... that's a whole different level of wrong.

And how awful does that movie look?  Even the previews bother me... I don't think I could sit through that...  I can't imagine it helps hockey's popularity at all...

  13. i think that june is good because most hockey fans are basically in hockey withdrawl
