  1. Lights typically don't draw power when turned off, so you're safe leaving them plugged in.

Radios *sometimes* draw power when turned off.  The more advanced and recent your radio, the more likely that it draws power when turned off.  The amount of energy used from a turned-off appliance is minimal.  In the long run, if everyone in the world did it, it would make a difference.  However, you probably won't notice the savings in your energy bill--it will be overwhelmed by fluctuations in how often you use your TV, computer, oven, heating, and air-conditioning.

This power draw is the result of constant memory usage (anything with a clock inside of it uses power to keep constant track of time, for example), the presence of stand-by or "off" lights, or similar "improvements".

The more recent and advanced the item, the more likely that it draws power when turned off.  Almost all computers, TVs, and vcrs/dvd players do this now.  My suggestion:  Don't run around pulling out plugs.  Hook these items up to power strips.  You can shut off power supply by turning off the power strip instead!

  2. They're not drawing any current (power) when off, unless the radio has a clock or a standby light (both of which would draw insignificant levels of power. It would not help.

  3. The lamps that are turned off are using no power at all and neither is your radio unless it has a remote control or clock function. So shutting them off is saving nothing at all.

  4. yes, and very much, Did you know that 10% of you electricity bill is from stuff you turn of but don't unplug?

all of that stuff, your lamps, hair iron, cell phone chargers, computers, it drains energy, but doesn't use it. Don't believe me?? Touch the charger, i bet it's hot. What you should buy is a Power surge (the bis pluger thingy wit hlike 8 things to plug into it) . it cuts of the power when youn you'r not using it, and you can just flip at the switch at the end of the day.
