Would it hurt more if your spouse was emotionally intimate or physically intimate with someone else?

I've heard that women are more hurt by emotional affairs and men are more hurt by physical affairs.

My wife had and affair and fell in love with the guy so I know she was emotionaly and physical involved with him and  that really hurts to know that she first had an emotional affair that developed in a physical one. If it was just emotional maybe would have been easier to accept

They both hurt, but for different reasons. The physical part leaves you feeling undesirable, inadequate, and angry. The emotional part leaves you feeling betrayed, unloved, utterly devastated. I guess i would say the emotional part. A man can have s*x with a plastic blow up doll. There is always a woman better looking than yourself, younger, whatever. But sharing emotional intimacy is a complete insult to all the love, all the affection, all the history that you have with a person. It doesn't just make you doubt your physical attractiveness, it makes you doubt your worth as a human being. But of course, both are equally unacceptable.

they're both awful, but id have more trouble getting over a psychical affair. a psychical affair would also be an emotional one. there are alot of emotions that go along with secret phone calls, s*x, sneaking around to meet etc.

i would hate it if my husband cheated on me, in ANY form, bc i would leave him. forever.

EMOTIONAL! though both would hurt very badly and no one wants to have to deal w/ either, emotional just means they've become closer and there is a good change for a relationship. Emotionally intimate means they love eachother or could love eachother, very scary for anyone who loves that person.

personally i think that the emotional part would be the worse because you dont have to have feelings to have s*x with someone. but for you to care about a person like that you have to feel something for that someone. that means that he doesnt love you. but the physical affairs are bad too.
