One of my silver dollars has a couple of white dots on his dorsal fin, and I think he has some on his side also, but he moves so fast its hard to tell. I want to treat the tank for ick, but im not completely positive he has it. There is 10 fish in the tank. 2 are showing slight symptoms. Should I treat for ick?

  1. You should.

treat at half strength if you have any scaless fish (eels, cats, knifefish, loaches) etc.

  2. yes treat it is will do NO harm to the other fish!   oh yes it MIGHT stain the sealent (I think it looks pretty) BUT the move will just stress the fish out!

  3. Well it wont kill them and you dont have anything to loss.

  4. do not treat in you tank /it will stain the seals -treat it in a plastic bucket or such -i had the same problem but did not think it was ICK but once i treat no problems since =if you see one spot i would treat in  5 gallon bucket all of them for at least 7 days to 2 weeks,YES-as for as my pleco i would not call them scales like other fish

  5. Yes, treat the whole tank. Even fish that aren't showing symptoms could possibly be infected.

  6. Plecos don't really have scales, it is more like armor, which helps to not be killed by aggressive fish. But some fish will eat the eyes of plecos.

Like I told you to do before, and this is not a risky process. Slowly raise the temperature of the tank to 82 degrees, and add aquarium salts. This is a great method for treating ich, I know because I have researched the method online and have used it myself with great success.
