And are they allowed to call an ambulance/the police if the person calling didn't want them to? And under what circumstances?

  1. I seriously disagree with Bills answer above!! It won’t show up on a phone bill at home but helpline numbers are free so if you feel safer you can call from a payphone. Bill may have just had a bad experience of a helpline and his issue may have been very different to yours. I personally have had nothing but good experiences of helpline`s and would always strongly advise someone to use them. You should always talk to someone when you are feeling down and they are there for a reason. They are unable to trace your call. It’s against the law so unless you tell them your exact location they cannot find you and they wont want to either so don’t be frightened by that. You have a right in privacy and confidentiality so unless you give them permission to tell anyone else for e.g. Police, ambulance, and social workers they are not allowed to by law!! Please try and give them a call, if you don’t feel like it now then I suggest you don’t leave things unsaid and make sure you speak to someone. Friends, Parents or your GP. I would like to know who Bill would suggest going to if he thinks Helplines are out of the Question???? He was quick to judge helpline`s but did not leave us with a solution to your problem as we cant always deal with things on our own!! I hope everything works out well for you. My thoughts will be with you 

  2. I don't think it comes up as 'crisis hotline' or whatever the company is, you know. I think it appears as an anon number because of privacy issues. I'm pretty sure they have to call ambulances if someone is on the other end saying they're going to kill themselves or they've taken an overdose or something like that. I think that would be in their duty of care.

  3. Of course they can send around a team of people to imprison you in a padded cell. They can and will. You give up your human rights by calling that line. Under what circumstances? as soon as you drop the S word honey,

Don't be fooled into thinking there is any kind of 'help' out there that doesn't involve coercion, and forced drugging.

Chemical lobtomies, and stigamatizing labels are all you will find if you go looking for this 'help'.

You want to known as YOU or 'she's bipolar' 'she's schizophrenic' in hushed tones of prejudice.

All these people want to do is drug you up and make sure THEY are safe. They are afraid you might harm THEM. It's all a ruse.

Do not call that line, but if you do, never mention the S word. And ask them up front what their policies are on sending around people to abuse you and drug you, because it happened to me and believe me, its been hard to recover from the abuse they call 'help'.

You can bet a million dollars that some do gooder will tell you ignore me, but they are the people that would secretly have you committed and lie to your face afterward, they see you as not human, but some malfunctioning animal to be quarantined.
