  1. In order for something like this to be effective it would need to be longer then 1 month. Problem is people don't want to give up their JOBS to save money on gas. Even using public transportation for 3 months for some people is impossible, not to mention the fact that you still need to drive to stores to get food, clothing, computers, computer games, I guess everyone could make a run on the horse farms and start to buy horses. It's simply not practical. What we need to do is be more efficient and plan things out better. If you need to go to 3 or more places, sit down and plan your route so you’re traveling the least amount of distance. Turn your car off when you’re at drive up windows like the bank. Make sure your car is in proper repair including tire pressure. Most people are unaware that uneven tire pressure can reduce gas mileage by as much at 15%. And with the weather getting warmer now is the time to check and make sure they are all at the same PSI. We as a whole country just need to make better choices and adapt our habits. Sorry I don't mean to ramble. I'll stop now.

  2. Nope! Regardless of what the government says, there is price fixing going on. Competition means nothing when it takes 4 million barrels of crude a day to keep America healthy (fat is more like it). If everyone parked their gas hogs and bought economy cars and light trucks FOREVER; then you would see a drop. But as long as Mr. average American thinks it is more important to have room, and comfort, even if it means getting 15 miles per gallon, then we are all stuck with $4 per gallon (soon). It also doesn't help when you are stuck in a war that requires the government to counterfeit vast sums of money to finance. Bush can brown nose the Arabs all he wants, but if he (and the rest of our leaders) choose to make our dollars worth nothing, they have the right (and obligation) to raise the price of crude. My personal answer is to get rid of my little 6 cylinder truck and buy a 4. I'm building a 2 cylinder car in my garage that will (I hope) get about 80 mpg. Get smart, America; Park the Pig!

  3. No it will not.  This is an urban myth.  Just buy from the least expensive gas station.  And reduce your driving and reduce the consumption of fuel.  That is the only control we have.

  4. good luck getting spoiled americans to unite on that one!!  They cant go without their SUVs for soccer moms, boats, motorcycles etc

  5. the price will go 5 or 7 $ a gallon

people will just pay and complain

    they will spend themselves broke

    they will stop when broke

  6. US demand is actually way down...it's the increase in world demand from countries like China and India that are driving oil prices up along with speculators, no new refineries, boutique fuels and disruptions of supplies. People just need to start buying cars with better economy.

  7. No, it wouldn't help since Exxon-Mobile isn't the only company that reported record profit in the last quarter. It was just about every oil company.

Plus, if people didn't buy fuel from one company, they would sell it to other companies so they're not sitting on a supply. The other companies would have to maintain the current prices to purchase the fuel from Exxon-Mobile at a rate where E-M can make a profit, but also they can make a profit. So technically, it would make prices go up.
