Would it work to stick a fake dollar in a soda machine

no. it only accepts real bills. it has a scanner inside to make sure it is real. now a days they don't take new bills cuz they have color on them now

Probably not.  At one time, I was working with a gaming machine that had a multi-scanner.  I was never able to fake it out (and it was part of my job to try).  The soda machine scanner might not be as sophisticated as the gaming machine, but still, I bet it'll beat anything you could scan/copy/print yourself.

Don't think so but you can try... it would probably pop right out though since the machines have problems accepting real dollars too sometimes

Manufacturers of Soda machines make an effort to verify the authenticity of the bill before accepting it (that's why sometimes wrinkled money doesn't work so well in vending machines).

Is a can of pop really worth going to jail for counterfiting over?

Not to mention, even if you get away with it here on earth, there is that whole "thou shalt not steal" thing - God knows that you did it.
