many big guns and bullets replaced with sleek and smoth high powered laser guns that run on batteries.... I don't know but i don't want to see lasers in the battle field while i'm still alive it just doesn't feel right. what's your opinion

It would be really weird to hear someone call out "Give me a double A i'm all out" instead of "Throw me a mag i'm out" yes i know guns won't run on c**p batteries like that but it's an exageration

  1. War is war ,no matter how you look at it!

  2. You won't see lasers in combat for a couple of hundreds of years. To get enough energy to successfully kill someone the laser and generator would have to be the size of a house.

  3. I think laser use in the military would be kinda weird...I mean, just because we would not be used to it.  For example, imagin when the first gun came out.  I'm sure the idea of it was just as bizarre as using a lasar gun for the first time in this day and age.

Do you think it'll be a little unfair though? You could probably take out at least a small crowd with a single beam, granted the laser was a single, long beam that lasted a few seconds...Like a hot knife through butter.

Anyway, I think it would ruin the art of war.  Lasers are a pretty clean shot, thus killing instantly, meaning less bloodshed, less pain. The "art" of wars in my opinion are about the bloodshed and pain of a bullet/sword.  Makes people not want to result to such trauma so solve problems..

  4. No more then metal cartidges, bolt action rifles and machine guns changed the art of war.  Advances in technology cause a modification to tactics but most of the arrt of war has not changed since the advent of smokeless powder and increased range and accuracy,  the basic outline set up in the Art of War and bu von Claoswich really have not changed much-armor replaces calvary and the tactics change but not the overall conduct and strategy.

  5. Yes and so would robots.

  6. Pulsed or continuous energy weapons would change the art of war, just like firearms did.

  7. People say the same thing whenever new technology is introduced on the battlefield. The worst offender was the modern firearms themselves, which any idiot could use and made the years to decades of practice with swords and bows sort of pointless.

The reality is that war is not meant to be glamorous, whatever is the most efficient way to kill your opponent will eventually be utilized. With that said, I don't think lasers are quite as efficient as guns in terms of combat effectiveness and costs. But if they do get up there in terms of usefulness, then they will replace rifles and then made to seem glamorous by the next generation of soldiers.

  8. they all do the same thing. So it doesnt really matter. One way or the other, its meant to kill people.
