Would like CURRENT LE to expound on whether the War on Drugs is working or not.?

Do you think it is a war we are winning or can win? Do you think it creates a lack of respect for the law? Does prohibition make your job more dangerous? Does prohibition cause more harm to citizens and police than good? Do you think legalization would take the profits from organized crime and shut them down? Would like to hear any personal stories from current or former police on their own experiences with the drug war. Please take this seriously! If you're not current or former LE, don't waste the space with lame second hand opinions. I want it "straight from the horses mouth," as it were. Thanks, and be safe out there.

  1. I'm not with LE, so let's clarify just who's lame.  LE doesn't get to pick what laws to enforce or ignore.  That's the function of the legislative arm of the government, city council, state congress, etc.  So if people are losing respect for the law due to the war on drugs, then they're losing respect for the legislature, since they elect the ones passing the laws and policies.

Since you didn't pay attention in school about government, and obviously are not a productive member of the community (or you'd be making your opinion known to your lawmakers, not complaining about cops doing their jobs), we'll educate you here about who's lame.

Personally, I think the drug war is a losing proposition, like Prohibition was, and government regulation would squeeze out the profit motive much faster.  But I'm outvoted by other citizens of the community and the state.  And the cops ain't got squat to say about it.

Still lame, kid.  You may have two Senators, but you have only one Congressional Representative.  But go ahead and write them all you want.  Next you'll be telling us all about how you sit in on every city council meeting, which is the group that sets priorities for the local police, the ones you'd have the most contact with.  And the opinions of LE are unimportant as they'll still do the job they're told to do or get off the force.  Since there are still police cars on the road, I guess they haven't all up and quit in protest.  Now shut off the computer, give mommy a kiss, and go hop in bed like a good boy.

  2. Whether we're winning or not isn't the point...

The point is, imagine what the US would be like if we weren't out there fighting everyday.
