  1. Yes. I've taught English overseas for four

years and would recommend it to anybody.

In the country where I teach, TEFL certification

isn't necessary but it can increase your pay in

the public schools and makes it easier for you

    to teach in a university.

My career started and continues here in South

Korea. I taught in private language schools first.

A couple of months ago I began teaching at a public

school. I recommend a private school for your first

job as it will give you much experience.

Taxes here are low and your airfare and housing

are provided. A bonus of pay for one month is given

after completion of each one-year contract. Also, if you

are American or Canadian or Australian, because of

agreements South Korea has with each of those countries,

you receive a pension payment that is similar to a 401k

    plan.

My first 6 months teaching I was on cloud nine. The sights

and sounds and smells were so exciting.

After awhile, living overseas has its costs- one of them is

being absent for long periods of time from one's own

country. Also, some items have to be shipped to you or

found in out of the way markets. For many like myself, the

opportunity to live and work in another country and the benefits

    outweigh the costs.

The link below has more info. about teaching overseas.

South Korea still has the most monetary benefits. Japan

and Taiwan are up there too. Emerging ESL markets are

Turkey, Czech Republic, Poland, and China.
