Would like to apply for long stay visa for Canada?

I am a pakistani and have applied for candian immigration. I want to apply now for a staying visa to canada.

Is that possible to do? Will my being in immigration provcess hinder me getting a visit or staying visa.

What are the criteria for getting a temporary resident visa.(for 2 years)

I don't think there is a temporary resident visa for 2 years.  I think the longest one is 6 months and it needs to be renewed every 6 months if you are going to stay longer.
