Best time of year is Any time.The booming tourist season for here is summer time.  The only thing we cannot guarantee is the weather,  rain is quite popular here.  But on a fine day, it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.  Killarney is quite popular, but if you are in to peace and quite, I would recommend the West of Ireland.  Connemara (Galway area), Co. Clare, Mayo, Sligo and Donegal are quite spectacular aswell as west Cork.

Dublin is a fine place but quite dear. Great shops and lifestyle there also. Nice place to visit but don't forget the rest of Ireland also as Dublin is a small part.  Ireland has alot to offer.  I would recommend www.ireland.ie website.  This shows you about accomoddation and places to go to.

yeah it is pretty nice here in october. i wouldnt advise winter here because it is very quiet and cold. in spring it is majestic , the weather is mild and suny and everything is coming to life. i would advise you to wait till summer. it is great craic , everything like nightlife and daytime buzz is alive. there is a tonne of festivals around that time of year too.

The best time is late spring through summer, the weather is more clement than other times of the year.

It's a magnificent country to visit, albeit a bit expensive.

To stay, try the "bed and breakfast" system... That way you'll be able to enjoy more of the irish hospitality, and it is less expensive than the hotels!

(I've only been able to go to Ireland once, and I'd love to go back!

And I'm fortunate as I have a close friend living in Drogheda who I stayed with...It's wonderful if you have someone native to the country to guide you around!)

If you mean this year i.e. 2006, you had better get your skates on. . . . . but if you mean within the next 12 months, personally I would suggest the month of May.

Im from Ireland and 2 years ago in May, I returned home after a few months away. To view from the air, the fields and hedgerows with their profuse white May bloom, was 'awesome' (im assuming u are American)    

After a similar experience, Johnny Cash wrote the song  "The 40 Shades of Green" . . . . trust me, he didnt lie !    

                        But apart from that the weather should be more pleasant than it is today with its constant rain. . . . didnt you know thats why us Irish have such perfect , flawless skin haha ?

i live in ireland. you can be lucky and un lucky with the weather so it doesnt really mater but you get longer days during the summer and when you get good weather its the best place in the world!! I never go on holidays during the summer cause i miss the good weather.

Well you should have gone in early October, its still nice out and then the mushrooms are in season and you can pick them yourself and trip around the country.
