Apparently i'm really good at playing guitar.well i picked up an acoustic guitar about a month ago and it was my moms but she didn't use it much. and she taught me the basic chords (like Em,G,D,A,C,E, i know way more now!!) and then she told me to keep practicing.i pretty much never put down the guit from then on. SO i have never had a lesson and i've only played guitar for about 4 weeks and i know about 20 songs from begining to finish, mainly country but others too.AND i was at my friends house and she had a guitar and she was going to start lessons and i played her a couple songs on it and her mom is willing to pay me 15$ a lesson to teach her daughter how to play the guitar.now i really want to make a living out of it and play in a band, i sometimes sing with the song but im not that great of a singer.my mom told me i could take lessons if i wanted but i dont know if i should because im doing so well so dar and it may be a waste.

  1. maybe you should get a teacher who will expand your guitar playing.

Also you can teach your friend

  2. I take private guitar lessons and I wouldn't be where I am today if I had taught myself. No way. Having someone there who knows the instrument (and music) inside and out correcting you on small things makes a BIG difference. You'll learn all sorts of things with a good teacher. Unfortunately, finding a good compentent teacher is very hard to come by. But look around.

It's not a waste, taking lessons. But they are costly so be prepared to shell out close to a $100 or more.

  3. do you know steve vai? and joe satriani? they are very good musicians..

infact steve vai was the best student of joe satriani.. as timegoesby, steve vai become more good than satriani.

if you know something now.. there are more things which you can learn..

    based on my experienced.

    1. i learned to play rock. (self review)

then i decided to have a turor in guitar.. then i learned:

    1. funk,

    2. jazz,

    3.blues, etc..

you will not grow without having a teacher..

  4. try learning a bit off of the internet, and if there is anything that really confuses you, go for the lessons. lessons definately wont hurt. especially at your skill level, lessons would give you a strong foundation for the more complex guitar techniques.

i was lucky enough to find a teacher at my shool who was willing to teach me a bit for free. if you can find any opportunites like that, go for it.

  5. I would ask do you like to play the guitar do you get enjoyment from it, if you do then how can it be a waste of time even if it doesn't get you into a career or band it is still worth while because of you love for it if you do love doing it that is.
