My uncle was murdered and was wondering if a life insurance policy is found would murder count as an accident or would the policy have to actually say murder? I think he had a 100000.00 policy . any help would be appreciated.

  1. it would be under murder or homicide.. because its not accidental

  2. Murder would not be considered an accident.  However, unless the policy only covers accidental death and dismemberment (or has a rider on it that increases the payout for AD&D) it shouldn't matter.  I suppose each policy is different, but I've never come across a standard life insurance policy that excluded murder (unless it was a  murder by the beneficiary for the purpose of collecting the insurance).

I hope you find the policy and coverage applies.  I'm sorry for your loss, that's a horrible way to lose a family member.

  3. a death that was out of his control is covered under the policies.

Murder, car accident, random lightening bolt, whatever.

If he did not intentionally endanger his life, the insurance policy will hold it's promise.

  4. it would probably say he was murdered because accidental is like a car accident or something like that. hope that helps!

  5. Your uncle was murdered and he was wondering if murder would count as an accident....

Each policy is different and the family would have to read the fine print. Murder in my opinion wouldn't fit under the accident category though.
