  1. Religion isn't the only way to teach morality

  2. what eternal punishment had to do with murders or any carnal thing. the word of Jesus is spiritual and it is going to be enforced after the end of this world we are living right now. somebody deceived  you.

  3. Ask the murderers that question presently.

  4. I do not have a crystal ball. God gave you a moral compass, and you have a free will to disobey. You might be locked up if you do not follow laws.

  5. Look at Sweden's murder rate.

Compare it to the murder rate in the US.

    Get back to me.

  6. Not likely. Look at the amount of religious fundamentalism in the United States, and then look at its murder rate. The two are not necessarily connected.

  7. I can't imagine why it should. There will still be the deterrents of punishments imposed by Courts. If there were an increase, it would only be marginal and perpetrated by religious believers.

Most people behave in a way that benefits themselves, and this benefits the community as well. Whether they believe it or not, I don't think most people behave like this because of the threat of eternal punishment.

  8. It is not the best way to teach, but for some people, it works.  The best way, of course, is to not kill because we treat each other with respect and love--but there are people that are (for whatever reason) attracted to that kind of violence.

So, it might cause a slight increase.

However, if you take prayer away, or reading the bible, or suffering for others--you would see a huge increase.  It's by our prayers, our caring for each other's spirituality that keeps the devil from having such a strong influence over people.  The less we pray, think about God, go to mass--the more violence and evil we will have.
