Would my body respond the a generic medication the same as it would to a brand name?

So, I've been taking a small dose of Risperdal for anxiety and OCD while I wait for my Prozac to fully kick in, but now my doctor is prescribing me the generic Risperdone. Can I get different side effects? Or should everything be about the same?

I'm scared of taking new medications, and I'm just worried that this new generic will effect my body differently.

Thank you for your help.

  1. Generics are supposed to be basically the same. But it's not impossible to have different reactions to different brands. For instance some brands of medication use different fillers or dyes than others. So it's possible to be allergic to one brand of the same medication and not to another brand. But that's pretty rare, so I wouldn't worry.

  2. The generic is the same stuff, at least it is suppose to be. I am sure there must be a Doctor here or a pharmacist that can answer that question.

  3. it won't change anything. you will respond to it the way you did to the med. it's the same med.
