I just do schooling shows and I was wondering if he is fancy enough for that. I know he's a paint, but many other paints are in my area so it really doesn't make any difference. Once we get lead changes and put in a good round, I am wondering if he is 1st place worthy or at least in the ribbons worthy. He is still green and so am I, so we are both learning.

Also, could he be 'B' show worthy if we work harder on collection and jumping?

**yes, I know I suck at riding, you don't have to tell me twice. I don't show off my horse well in any way. I am trying to fix that. I have a trainer. If you must correct the rider, please use helpful advice. I don't find good distances and I am working on fixing that currently. The most recent clips are of when the white box jump has a black and white pole and the green line is 2'3". I am wearing a green shirt (though there are a few other days where I am wearing the same thing too). This is his 4th time jumping all those jumps and he is finally trusting me after a year. Thanks!

  1. Your horse is VERY cute, quiet, and paints are very popular in the Hunter rings. He could go more forward on the flat and it would be nice to see him a little rounder and coming from behind, in time. With the fences thar height he has a suitable canter, again, coming more from behind will make the jumps even smoother.

You look quite correct, though your stirrups could go up a hole or two for over fences. I think that will help you get your balance (and his) and keep your leg more secure, once your leg is more secure, you will be able to sit taller. You lean forward around the course, again with smaller fences no biggie, and you are very quiet so it's not hindering him in any way, but to move up to B you would want to get yourse;f taller and him more forward.

I think another season of schooling at 2'6" and 2'9" will have you both ready for B (we call it Silver/Trillium afraid I don't know what term you use) I definately can see him moving up the ranks and kudos to you, you've trained him well, he is so quiet and happy to do his job, it is nice to see.

  2. your horse is gorgeous, dont doubt that. also, alot of paints show in hunter/jumper around here.

now.. my opinion on your horse... it seems like he, yes he..., okay, it seems like her is just playing around with those jumps. if you have the confidence, put up a jumping course in that arena with jumps mostly at 2'6" and an occasionly 2'3 or 2' to give him a small break here and there.. he really seems to be holding himself back. i questioned my horse's ability as well when i first started, i seriously thought i was going to kill her if i jumped 2' for the longest time.. so i stayed at 1' or 1'9". my mare is 16hh. she could step over that... im not jumping nothing shorter than 2'6" and moving up to 3' which i finally have her jumping comfortably over [idk if all horses do this but when she first starts a new height she jolts over it but once she settles to the jump she gets the necessary confidence in herself and clears it like its nothing..] the only reason im still at 3' is cuz i cant find anything to make the jumps higher. LOL.. so basically dont underestimate him, he has major potential..

now my opinion on you.. dont question yourself as a rider, you are carrying yourself nicely enough and its not like youre all over the place.. english takes a little longer than western to get used to in my opinion.. just stick with it and you wont be rocking much. also, your jumping form is quite nice, but we have an opposite vice. you sit too far back in your saddle when jumping. you want your butt basically in the middle of your tack.. so you may want to lift yourself slightly forward more when youre jumping.. other than that.. when you do sit forward more make sure you dont get chicken wings by sticking your elbows out-common problem..

anyway hope this helps! good luck and have fun!

  3. i think you will do fine. try to learn to land on the correct lead after the fence.

  4. Yes. And your horse is adorable. I have a Hunter who is also a Paint and named Rio.
