I want to get laser hair removal on my armpits because I have very sensitive skin, which my dermatologist can verify. Also, my dermatologist does laser hair removal, so would my insurance, oxford, cover the procedure?

  1. Great website, resourceful,user-friendly should be able to answer your questions.http://insurance.free-onlinetip.info/ins...

  2. no.

I've seen insurance companies cover botox injections in the armpit due to excessive sweating... But, never hair removal. Its cosmetic. If your skin is irritated due to shaving, they'd suggest you stop. If its irritated due to hair, they'd probably suggest shaving... Sorry.

  3. I can say with about 99.99999% certainty that your insurance company would consider that to be a cosmetic procedure, and therefore not covered by medical insurance.

However, if you want the answer straight for them, call your insurer and ask.  I can say that if there is even any remote possibility that they would consider it medically necessary, then you and your doctor would need to get a pre-authorization/pre-determination.

(But I think the odds are against you on this one.)

  4. Nope, it's cosmetic.  There is no need to get rid of your armpit hair.  It's not a health hazard, that hair.
