I have full coverage insurance on my car, which is a 96 grand am. Anyways, a few months ago I hit a curb and just recently found out that I damaged more than I had thought I did underneath my car. (around 1,000$ worth of damage) but I never filed a report or anything..I didn't really know how to..it was my fault, I hit the curb. but would my insurance help me with this or not?

  1. They may.

If you only have liability then they won't cover something like this.  If you have "comprehensive" they will cover it, but only for the amount above your deductible.   So if you had a Deductible of $500, you need to pay $500 and they cover the rest.

Even if they cover some of it, it may not be to your advantage to do this.  If it is your fault they will take that into consideration and probably will raise your rates at the next renewal.  Over time this could cost you much more than anything you would have to pay to get it fixed on your own.

  2. Depends on what your deductable is and if its worth it. They should cover it.

  3. They should. You should just have to pay your deductible. Then they'll pick up the rest. It might cause your car insurance to increase though.

  4. This is a collision claim.  Assuming that you have collision coverage, the company will pay the LESSER of the cost to repair, minus your deductible, or the ACV of the car.

You risk having your car totalled by filing this claim, depending on what the ACV of the car is.

But yes, if you have collision, it's covered.  It's considered an at fault accident.
