Would my lamp still work after the outlet was dropped in water?

i dropped the outlet in the water but only for a second. since then my lamp stopped working, does that have anything to do with it? im using a brand new bulb.

As long as it is dry and doesn't have any exposed wires it should work. Try another bulb!

I would take another lamp and try it in the outlet. If you tried the plug that got wet you may have blown a fuse or unset your circuit breaker (you may need to replace a fuse or reset the circuit breaker) for that outlet. You should let the original plug dry out for several hours, never plug in a wet plug into an outlet.
