Would my qualifications in the North count in the republic?

This is the course i want to do but would I be able to teach French and Geography in the republic after I complete it?

  1. There are plenty of teachers from the North teaching down south particularly in Protestant schools. I see no reason you not doing the same.


  2. Do the degree in the North, no problem, but you would be best to do your postgraduate teacher training in the South.

    To train to teach in a public school in the south you will also need leaving cert Irish at C3 Hons, so this might be a problem. I don't know how you would stand if you trained in the North then 'converted' your qualification but.

  3. I work in a school and there's plenty of teachers from the North teaching there so I don't think it's a problem.  Good luck with your course and hope all goes well with it.
