the filters are desgined to keep the dsl line noise out of your phone, it won't affect your dsl at all

Not at all. Your broadband internet will work perfectly fine if you do not have filters installed onto your phones; however if you pick up the phone handset you will not be able to hear anything but the old dial up tone. Your internet will also be disconnected and will need to be re-established.
